Sowell to Step Down as Senior Director of Development

Ashlyn Sowell will step down as the Senior Director of Development for the Department of Medicine to begin a new position on September 17. She has accepted the newly created position of Associate Vice President of Campaign Operations and Engagement in the Office of the Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations. In her new role, Ashlyn will report to the Senior Associate Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations and will take on the responsibility for guiding campaign strategy. She will partner with campaign leadership and volunteers and will oversee the Donor and Volunteer Engagement, Communications, and Events teams.

Ashlyn joined the Fund for Johns Hopkins Medicine as Senior Director of Development for the Department of Medicine in 2015, later also taking on leadership of the Heart and Vascular Institute. The Department of Medicine has raised $222M to date in the Rising to the Challenge Campaign. Ashlyn serves on the Senior Management team for the Fund, heading up the Fund’s staff retreat in 2016, and working on the strategic plan with a focus on the grateful patient fundraising pillar.

Anne Kennan will be stepping in as interim director as we begin the process of filling the position.
