The Dr. Joseph and Rae Brown Award recognizes a Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) member who has significantly advanced multidisciplinary quality care for critically ill and injured patients at the regional or local level. Sammy Zakaria, assistant professor in Cardiology, received this award in recognition of his efforts in leading the SCCM Baltimore Chapter for the past two years and creating a new vision to highlight and address inequities in ICU and post-ICU care, aiming for equitable access to high-quality care to achieve optimal outcomes. Sammy will be recognized during the SCCM awards presentation in Hawaii on January.
