Brian O'Rourke, professor in the Division of Cardiology, was selected to give the Keith Reimer Distinguished Lecture at the European Section of the International Society for Heart Research (ISHR) in Hamburg, Germany last month. His lecture entitled "Life on the Edge: Mitochondria Emergence, and Heart Disease" honored the memory of the former ISHR president who made major scientific contributions to the field of myocardial ischemic injury. In addition to being invited to speak, Brian received a plaque and a $1,000 honorarium.
