The Society of Bedside Medicine

The Society of Bedside Medicine (SBM) is a global community of physician educators dedicated to bedside teaching and improving physical examination and diagnostic skills. The purpose of the society is to foster a culture of bedside medicine through deliberate practice and teaching, and by encouraging innovation in education and research on the role of the clinical encounter in 21st century medicine. Brian Garibaldi, assistant professor in the Division of Pulmonary, is the co-president and founder of the SBM. The Johns Hopkins DOM is one of the institutional founding members along with Stanford University and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Please visit the new SBM website at https://bedsidemedicine.org/, where members access valuable teaching and assessment tools. The SBM is hosting its first annual meeting and poster session at the Stanford 25 Bedside Medicine Symposium on September 29, 2017. Attendees can apply part of their symposium fee toward an annual SBM membership.
