Additions to the BCU

The BCU is excited to announce two additions to our leadership team!

Jennifer AndonianJennifer Andonian has been appointed the interim BCU program manager. Jen was recently named one of HEIC’s senior infection preventionists. She has served as one of our HEIC BCU leads for the last two years and has played a large role in our success over that time period. Jen will spend 50 percent of her time in her new role. She will help to grow our clinical, research and education programs as we look to build a sustainable program that meets the needs of our local, regional and national partners in the field of highly infectious diseases. Please join us in congratulating Jen on her new position.

Jade FlinnWe are equally excited to announce that Jade Flinn has been selected to be the new BCU nurse educator. Jade has been a super-user for the BCU nursing team since the start of the unit in 2014. She brings a wealth of critical care experience from her time in the Neurology Critical Care Unit (NCCU) and is legendary in the BCU for her ability to run simulated codes during BCU drills. She will spend 50 percent of her time working on the BCU, with the remainder of her time on the NCCU.

We will be putting our new team to the test on November 30 as we hold one of our quarterly drills. We will be exercising our ability to safely transport a pregnant patient to the BCU followed by a high-fidelity simulation of childbirth in collaboration with our Lifeline, obstetrics, pediatrics and simulation center partners.

If you are interested in learning more about the BCU, or would like to become part of the team, please contact Brian Garibaldi (bgariba1@jhmi.edu).
