Siliciano Receives Grant Renewal

Robert Siliciano, professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases, recently received seven more years of funding from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) to continue his work studying the latent reservoir for HIV. Robert and his lab have been studying this topic for over 20 years with grants from HHMI, the National Institute of Health (NIH) and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. During this time, they have shown that the latent reservoir for HIV is the major barrier to a cure, and have defined many of its properties. In the next seven years, they hope to implement a novel assay for the reservoir and use it in the evaluation of cure strategies.
