The American Diabetes Association published its Standards of Care for Diabetes last week with the help of a committee led by Rita Kalyani, associate professor in the Division of Endocrinology. She has served as chair of the writing committee for the past year to update the 173-page clinical guidelines that summarize evidence-based recommendations for the management and treatment of the 30 million people living with diabetes in the U.S. Major changes include revising the fundamental algorithm for sequencing antihyperglycemic therapies in people with type 2 diabetes to incorporate results from recent CV outcomes trials.
