Brooks Named Senior Director of Finance

The DOM's own Douglas Brooks has been named senior director of finance for the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Johns Hopkins Health System beginning January 2.

Doug joined the DOM in 2001, serving as senior financial analyst and assistant administrator before becoming our director of finance 10 years ago. He will maintain his role in the DOM in addition to leading the team of finance directors in the Johns Hopkins Medicine clinical departments, as health system and school of medicine finance functions evolve to address the growing pressures on our funding sources. His will work to increase transparency of information, improve internal controls and standardize processes across departments. Doug was instrumental in reaching these same goals within the DOM through innovations such as the MedVitals reporting system and has supported numerous innovative academic and clinical programs, such as the Executive and Preventive Health program, which have allowed our department to thrive.

Doug received a bachelor's degree from Pensacola Christian College and an M.B.A. in health administration from the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. He is a current member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association and the Administrators of Internal Medicine.

Doug will succeed Claro Pio Roda, who will become vice president of finance and CFO at Howard County General Hospital.
