Members of the DOM Honored by the IEE

Gail Berkenblit, assistant professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine, received the Teaching Award for Faculty of 10 or More Years.

Jeanne Clark, professor and director of the Division of General Internal Medicine, was selected as this year’s winner of the Institute for Excellence in Education's (IEE) Mentorship Award. This award recognizes outstanding achievement in mentoring.

The Advancing Bedside Cardiopulmonary Physical Examination Skills (ACE) program has been selected to receive the 2018 IEE’s Educational Program Award, which is intended to recognize a noteworthy medical or biomedical teaching program which has been implemented for five years or less. Program leaders Brian Garibaldi, assistant professor in the Division of Pulmonary, and Tim Niessen, assistant professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine, were commended on their  thoughtful approach to designing and implementing the program, and success with demonstrating improvement in learner outcomes.

Laura Hanyok, assistant professor in the Division of Bayview Internal Medicine, was named the recipient of the IEE's award fo the Educational Scholarship. This award is designed primarily for the faculty member who has a corpus of educational scholarship work.

Bernard Jaar, assistant professor in the Division of Nephrology, received the Teaching Award for Part-Time Faculty.

Gigi Liu, instructor in the Division of General Internal Medicine, recieved the award for Best Abstract for the Educational Scholarship.

Nancy Schoenborn, assistant professor in Geriatrics, received the Lisa Heiser Award, which honors a junior faculty members who has made an outstanding contribution in medical/biomedical education, and shown great promise for future meaningful contributions to medical and biomedical education.

Chris Steele (not pictured), senior assistant resident, received the award for Best Abstract for Educational Innovation.

All awards were presented at the IEE Conference and Celebration on Friday, April 27.
