The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Institute for Excellence in Education (IEE) and the Office of Graduate Medical Education recently announced the recipients of the Resident Readiness for Practice Challenge Grants under the Faculty Education Scholars Program. These grants are intended to support and complete projects that ensure that graduates of the GME programs are "ready to practice” while fostering the career development of educator faculty.
Brian Garibaldi, assistant professor in the Division of Pulmonary, Gigi Liu, instructor in the Division of General Internal Medicine, and their team were funded for their proposal entitled "Point of Care Ultrasound: Training Internal Medicine Residents for 21st Century Bedside Medicine."
Also funded: Dr. Lee M. Akst and the entire Otolaryngology team for their proposal: JHFIRE: Joint Huddles for Improving Resident Education
