Director’s Reflections: Feeling Thankful

As director of this department, I have a lot of reasons to be thankful. The members of this department account for over 4,600 of those reasons. This week’s extremely successful fellowship match that will bring us a new class of talented physicians this July is yet another. The fact that year after year we are able to recruit truly the best and brightest to our programs speaks volumes about the quality of research, education and patient care being performed here in the Department of Medicine. And I am not the only one who has noticed.

Earlier this month, 21 of our clinicians were named to the 2018 Top Doctors list published by Baltimore Magazine. This annual guide is a resource used by patients throughout Maryland to determine where to seek care, and our physicians were selected out of the metro area’s roughly 13,000 in over 100 specialties.

The list from the DOM is as follows:

I commend these and all of our doctors as well as our nurses and staff on your tremendous efforts that put our department at the forefront of biomedical discovery, teaching the next generation of doctors and improving the health of Baltimore and the world.
