The School of Medicine Convocation Ceremony took place on Wednesday, May 22 in the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. Many of the awards for faculty were given to members of the Department of Medicine.
The Professors' Awards for Excellence in Teaching
The Professors' Awards for Excellence in Teaching were established in 1981 by the Advisory Board of the Medical Faculty and are intended to honor each year members of the faculty whose teaching is judged to have had a profound effect on students in the School of Medicine.
- Andrea Cox, professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases,Professors' Award for Excellence in Biomedical Sciences
- Sanjay Desai, associate professor in the Division of Pulmonary, Professors' Award for Excellence in Teaching in the Clinical Sciences
- Sharon Dlhosh, instructor in the Division of General Internal Medicine, Professors' Award for Excellence in Part-Time Teaching
The W. Barry Wood Jr. Award for Excellence in Teaching
The W. Barry Wood Jr. Award for Excellence in Teaching is awarded annually to the teachers voted by the students in the preclinical years to have been most inspirational and/or effective.

Faculty Marshal
Reza Manesh, assistant professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine, was selected by the Class of 2019 to be a faculty marshal at the School of Medicine Convocation.
