Institute for Excellence in Education Awards

The Institute for Excellence in Education Outstanding Educator Awards are designed to recognize and celebrate outstanding educators and acknowledge great achievements in education.

Congratulations to the following award recipients from the DOM:

L. Randol Barker, professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine, received the Martin D. Abeloff Award for Lifetime Achievement in Medical and Biomedical Education. This is the IEE's highest honor.

Nisha Chandra-Strobos, professor in the Division of Cardiology, is the recipient of this year’s IEE Leadership and Mentoring Award.

Sanjay Desai, associate professor in the Division of Pulmonary, is the recipient of this year’s IEE Educational Scholarship Award.

Erica Johnson, assistant professor in the Division of Infectious Disease, received the IEE Award for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching for 10 or More Years.

Gigi Liu, assistant professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine, is the recipient of the 2020 IEE Award for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching for less than 10 Years.

Monica Mix, instructor in the Division of General Internal Medicine, is the recipient of the 2020 IEE Award for Outstanding Achievement in Teaching for part-time faculty.

GIMboree was named the recipient of the IEE Education Program Award . GIMboree is a medical education innovation designed to foster community, mentorship and joy within primary care residents and faculty. The program was started in 2018 by Deborah Freeland, senior resident in the Bayview Internal Medicine Residency Program, and her mentor Paul O'Rourke, assistant professor in the Division of Bayview Internal Medicine.
