Melia and Montemayor Receive Seed Grants on Sex and Gender Differences Awards

Joanna Melia, assistant professor in the Division of Gastroenterology, and Kristina Montemayor, fellow in the Division of Pulmonary, received 2020 Seed Grants on Sex and Gender Differences. These grants aim to promote basic, translational, clinical, population health and social science research on sex and gender differences in the immune system and its function and to facilitate the research careers of junior faculty on these topics across Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Melia's project is entitled "Sex-specific effects of genetic variation in the manganese and zinc transporter ZIP8 and intestinal inflammation."

Dr. Mantemayor's project is entitled "Endogenous Sex Hormones and Respiratory Health in Women with Cystic Fibrosis."
