Echouffo Tcheugui Receives Clinical Scientist Development Award

The Doris Duke Charitable Foundation announced that four Johns Hopkins physician-scientists, including Dr. Justin Echouffo Tcheugui, assistant professor in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, have been honored with the 2020 Clinical Scientist Development Award. Dr. Echouffo Tcheugui was among 17 awardees selected from a pool of 208 applicants through a rigorous review process. The Doris Duke Clinical Scientist Development Award supports physician-scientists who are at the early stages of their career to help them transition to independent research careers. Dr. Justin Echouffo Tcheugui was recognized for his project entitled, “Effects of Sodium-Glucose Cotransporter (SGLT)-2 Inhibition on Energy Metabolism and Function of the Failing Human Heart.”  His primary mentor is Dr. Robert Weiss, professor in the Division of Cardiology.
