The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) awarded the JHH Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatrics program a five-year, $1.8M primary care enhancement grant. Program leadership will use the funds to enhance the urban health curriculum, add mental health resources to East Baltimore Medical Center (EBMC), support GIMboree on both campuses, teach residents about adverse childhood experiences and trauma-informed care and to grow the support staff at EBMC to include two new community health workers and a case manager.
The news of the grant came just before the program turned 10 years old in July. Seven classes of residents have now graduated, and recruiting for the 12th intern class is under way.
