Ambulatory: Mark your Calendars for the Next Epic Efficiency Series Webinar:

Inpatient: Sign In to Your Role and Treatment Team from your Mobile device

  • Be sure you have version 9.8 or higher of Haiku or Canto. The version displays at the bottom of the log in screen.
    Go to your app store to update the version on your personal device.

Inpatient: Adult Sepsis Display Updates

  • To increase visibility, the Sepsis Checklist now displays as a hover bubble in:
    • The ‘Adult Sepsis Timer Column’
    • The ‘Sepsis Bundle In Progress’ banner in Storyboard
    • A separate section in the Sepsis Navigator

Inpatient: 2021-2022 Flu Vaccine Screening

  • Flu Vaccine Screening appears in the inpatient Admission and Discharge navigator.
  • A BPA will alert you when influenza vaccine is indicated.
    • Standard-dose will default for patients < 65 years old.
    • High-Dose will default for patients > 65 years old.

Inpatient & Ambulatory: Care Everywhere Updates in Chart Review

  • A new banner displays when information is available in Care Everywhere.
  • Click “Learn More” on the banner to watch a brief video about interoperability.
  • Click the “X” to dismiss the banner.

Ambulatory: COVID-19 Vaccine Updates

  • COVID-19 vaccine appears as a Health Maintenance topic for all patients age 12 and up.
  • International COVID-19 vaccines appear in Health Maintenance when added to Historical Immunizations.
    • International vaccines include AstraZeneca, Sinovac, and Sinopharm.
    • Review the blog post here.
  • Health Maintenance modifiers for 3rd doses and boosters are also available.
    • An ‘additional dose’ modifier for a 3rd dose of mRNA vaccine is added to Health Maintenance if:
      • 28 days after the 2nd dose
      • A patient self-attests that they are immunocompromised in MyChart
      • If you add the modifier manually
    • A Pfizer ‘COVID-19 vaccine booster’ modifier is added to Health Maintenance if the patient received the Pfizer series initially AND one or more of the following exist:
      • The patient is > 65 years old
      • The patient is a JHM employee
      • The patient self-attested they are immunocompromised and scheduled an appointment
      • You added the booster modifier manually

  • These are efficiency sessions offered by Epic in Verona, WI (not specific to Johns Hopkins Medicine). They have been very well reviewed by prior attendees.
  • CME credit is available through the University of Wisconsin.

Ambulatory: Telemedicine Hot Topics – States of Emergency Telehealth Services Expiring [Data as of 10/1/21, 10 AM]

  • The National Public Health Emergency [PHE] has been extended until ~10/19/21. Emergency orders/states of emergency have expired in many states, affecting provider’s ability to perform telemedicine visits for out-of-state patients:
    • Delaware, Florida, and Maryland: all expired.
    • New Jersey: expired on 9/30/2021
    • New York: licensure waiver Renewed => from 9/28/21 to 10/27/21
    • Pennsylvania: licensure waiver Extension to March 31, 2022
    • Washington, D.C.: The licensure waiver is extended to 10/31/21 with MAJOR STIPULATIONS
  • Refer to legal FAQs for information related to individual state waivers and licensing requirements.
  • Direct general questions to JHM Telemedicine or legal-specific questions to Telemedicine Legal.
