This year, 1-3 nurses were nominated by their unit’s nurse manager to be the winner of the Professional Practice Award. Eligible bedside nurses must have demonstrated key components of our Professional Practice Model (We Care, We Excel, We Influence, We Empower), to help the Department of Nursing meet JHM strategic goals (We Achieve).
Nominees were announced during unit recognition activities during the week of May 9. Winners were voted on by the Medical Nursing Professional Practice Specialty Council.

The departmental winner was Shelby Cahill (*pictured above in orange), lead clinical nurse of the PCCU who is a CUSP and mobility champion. She is on the Emergency Management Committee that reviews unit code response data. Shelby’s creativity in educational posters, games and presentations helps engage staff. Shelby was recognized in a unit-based luau themed breakfast and given a gift certificate.
