Dr. Simon Mathews, assistant professor in the Division of Gastroenterology, recently received a Microsoft Innovation Acceleration Award for his project, SpectralDx, a novel, noninvasive, camera-based colorectal cancer screening option for patients that uses a smartphone attachment. His team includes Amit Banerjee, a senior research scientist at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, and is one of three teams from JHU to receive funding.
