Required Provider Training: Implicit Bias

As of April 1, 2022, providers in Maryland must complete an approved implicit bias training program in order to renew their medical license or certification. Review the law here.

To fulfill the new license renewal requirement, providers may choose one of the following training programs:

Implicit Bias Training

A new law goes into effect on April 1, 2022, requiring all renewing licensees to complete an implicit bias training program approved by the Cultural and Linguistic Health Care Professional Competency Program. Licensees scheduled to renew their license in 2022 must complete one course of the program as a condition of license renewal. This is a one-time requirement. An Introduction to Unconscious Bias & Microaggressions

The JHM Office of Diversity, Inclusion, and Health Equity is pleased to offer an unconscious bias course to fulfill the state requirement for relicensure. The course is entitled, “An Introduction to Unconscious Bias and Microaggressions” and will be virtual instructor-led via Zoom. You can search for the course in the myLearning catalog and are able to download a certificate of completion. The course is available as of 4/1/22.

Please note: If you have already completed the course as part of the FY21-22 diversity and inclusion strategic initiative (this is the course that would have been assigned to your myLearning “Training Plan”), you do not need to repeat the course.

Please feel free to contact Cheri Wilson, Program Director, Diversity, Inclusion, and Health Equity, if you have any questions.
