Adjustments to NIH and AHRQ Grant Application Due Dates Between September 22 and September 30, 2022

NIH has provided notification of NIH and AHRQ application due date adjustments to accommodate scheduled federal system downtime. Grants.gov has a planned production system outage from Friday, September 23, 2022 at 12:01 AM ET to Thursday, September 29, 2022 at 11:59 PM ET (see Grants.gov calendar). Grants.gov will use this time to migrate their services to the Cloud.

In response, NIH and AHRQ due dates that fall on or between September 22 and September 30, 2022 will move to October 3, 2022.

During the outage/system downtime, Grants.gov Workspace will NOT be accessible. ASSIST will still be available for proposal preparation and review, however ORA will be unable to submit proposals. We expect this a substantial increase in the number of applications received for this deadline as a result.  ORA strongly recommends/encourages faculty and staff to ensure that ORA receives all applications no later than Wednesday, September 28th (3 business days prior to the October 3rd deadline) to ensure that they will be reviewed and submitted by deadline/on-time.  Due to the increased volume, applications received after September 28th, may be submitted without review or risk being submitted after the deadline.

Please see NIH Notice NOT-OD-22-190 and NIH’s Extramural Nexus post for further information regarding how this change will affect different categories of proposal submissions.

Should you have questions about the deadline adjustment, please reach out to your ORA Grants Associate.
