Martin Elected to AHA Maryland Division Board

Dr. Seth Martin, associate professor in the Division of Cardiology, has been elected to serve as President Elect of the Baltimore and Greater Maryland Division Board of the American Heart Association beginning July 1, 2022. He will begin his term as Division Board President on July 1, 2023 for a period of two years.

As part of the leadership structure of an American Heart Association Gold Standard Division Board, the Executive Committee of the Board consists of a Chair, President, Leadership Development Chair, Immediate Past Chair, and Immediate Past President, OR Chair Elect and President Elect. The President of the local AHA division brings a combination of skills, experience and passion that inspires those who serve. A physician, researcher or other medical professional, the President, in partnership with the Board Chair and the Executive Director, provides overall direction for the division, with a particular emphasis on advancing the health of the community. The President is a champion of health equity and recognizes the urgent need to address the evolving needs of our increasingly diverse communities.

Dr. Martin began his volunteerism with the American Heart Association as a member of the Young Hearts Board, and also served as the Chair of the Advocacy Committee, serving as the volunteer lead for many important legislative victories, including Tobacco 21, Medicaid coverage for Self-monitored Blood Pressure, telehealth coverage, and expanding access to care.
