With the Jan. 19 Epic Upgrade, when an outpatient provider is sending a patient to the ED, they should look for the “Emergency” activity in Chart Search, and then complete the Expected ED Admission form. Once the form is completed, the patient will be displayed on the Call In Track board and the Expected area in the ED Manager. This will ensure that accurate and timely information is conveyed between outpatient and ED providers, and may decrease the need for phone calls about these patients.
NOTE: Use of this workflow does NOT initiate any transport or other triage notification systems or file as clinical documentation to the patient medical record, and is for internal EDs only.
