Inpatient & Ambulatory: Volunteer for the Epic Upgrade Pilot

  • Consider becoming a Pilot Super User! The next Epic Upgrade will go live on June 1, 2023.
  • Provide valuable feedback and identify issues to improve workflows before go-live.
  • NOTE: Users will be able to toggle between their current view and the upgrade view.

Inpatient & Ambulatory: LibreView Glucose Monitoring

  • LibreView, a third party vendor integrated with Epic, provides glucose patterns and trends for patients with diabetes.
  • Patients are enrolled when a provider enters and signs a LibreView order [search for synonym ‘CGM’].
  • Continuous Glucose Monitoring [CGM] data can be reviewed in the SnapShot, Summary & Sidebar reports, and in Synopsis, Chart Review, and Results Review.
  • Data can be pulled into notes using SmartLINKS with 14, 30, and 90-day lookback timeframes.

Ambulatory: In Basket “Quick Tips to Save You Clicks”

Ambulatory: Telephone/Refill Encounter Updates

  • In response to clinician feedback, the Call Intake and Take Action tabs of the Telephone/Refill encounter default to a dual pane view.
  • Clinicians have the option to change to a single pane view by clicking the wrench to rearrange their navigators.

Ambulatory: Anticoagulation Navigator Updates [Effective March 9, 2023]

  • Anticoagulation has its own navigator tab, separate from the Rooming navigator.
  • Additional tabs can be found in “More” Activities. Click the wrench to customize.

Ambulatory: Health Maintenance Topic [HMT] Changes

  • Providers can manually add HMTs from a drop-down menu.
  • The ‘Discontinue’ button has been removed from the Address Topic field, although ‘Add a Completion’ and ‘Postpone’ are selectable.
  • NOTE: If a topic is not relevant to a patient, select the “Not a Candidate for” modifier. This excludes the patient from related Plans and the patient will no longer display as “due.”

Inpatient: New Death by Neurologic Criteria Policy

  • To ensure compliance with the new JHHS Death by Neurological Criteria policy, the following Epic SmartTools should be used by clinicians authorized to document these assessments.
  • NOTE: Personal SmartPhrases that begin with “BRAINDEATH” should not be used to document on adult patients unless they have been updated to the new .DEATHBYNEUROCRITERIA SmartPhrase format.

Inpatient: AgileMD Guidelines for CHF

  • A new evidence-based clinical care pathway for the inpatient management of congestive heart failure is available for all JHM hospitals in the Guidelines-AgileMD activity in Epic.
  • These guidelines provide order-entry support and evidence-based pathways for Admission, Diuresis, Guideline Directed Medical Therapy (GDMT), and Discharge of patients with CHF.
  • Use the JHM General Adult CHF Discharge order set which includes follow-up recommendations in the discharge AVS.
