The Advanced Practice Provider Appreciation Award from the JHH Advanced Practice Advisory Council recognizes clinical excellence and the embodiment of The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Rachael Fornwalt, nurse practitioner in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, was recognized with the award in February.
Rachael is an exceptional provider, who has been working in our oncology critical care unit for many years. She provides compassionate patient care daily to some of the sickest patients in the hospital, while also serving as a mentor for many of our junior APPs, not only in critical care but in the oncology department, as well. We are lucky to have Rachael as a resource to our staff, a patient advocate and an excellent clinician.
Rachel was also named an invited speaker at the National Comprehensive Cancer Network's 2023 Nursing Program: Advancing Oncology Nursing, in Orlando, Florida. Her topic was: “New Challenges in the Management of Pulmonary Toxicities.”
