Akshintala and Hui Receive GI Awards

Dr. Venkata Akshintala, assistant professor in the Division of Gastroenterology, received the 2023 Innovation Award from the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE). He was recognized for his project entitled “Sustained Release Epinephrine Hydrogels for Use in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy” and will present at the Digestive Disease Week Shark Tank in May. This award was sponsored by Micro-Tech and initiated by the ASGE Invention and Innovation Special Interest Group.

Dr. Ken Hui, assistant professor in the Division of Gastroenterology, received the 2023 American Gastroenterology Association (AGA) Research Scholar Award. This award aims to support early-career investigators working toward independent and productive research careers in digestive diseases by ensuring that a major proportion of their time is protected for research. Funding for this award is provided by the AGA Research Foundation Endowment Fund and will begin in July.
