John Crockett will step down as Director of Professional Fee Billing for the Department of Medicine to become the Senior Director of Client Services – Medical Specialties, effective Monday, April 24. In this role, he will oversee and direct various activities across the Physician Billing Service and have oversight of the billing units for clinical departments related to medical specialties, including the DOM.
We are grateful for John’s fierce loyalty to the DOM and contributions to its success. Please feel free to leave a congratulatory message or fond memory here.
Joining the Department of Medicine in 1997, John guided the professional fee billing operation to become one of the most efficient in the School of Medicine. He has seen the DOM’s charges grow from $55M to ~$340M, its collections from $22M to ~$135M, its accounts receivable from 109 to 41 days, and cost of collections from 12.5 percent to 3.2 percent today. The DOM’s billing cost per visit is the lowest in the SOM. His expertise in accounts receivables management also extends to JHCP internal medicine specialties, which, when combined with DOM, accounts for $600M+ in charges and $250M+ in collections.
Kasey Hutchinson has graciously agreed to serve as the DOM’s interim Director of Professional Fee Billing. Kasey has served in various roles in the DOM’s Billing Office since 2010, and currently oversees special billing operations and Epic charge reconciliation and serves as the primary trainer for all new providers. Her familiarity with our divisional leaders, processes and reporting will help provide a smooth transition while we conduct a search. If you have any billing questions, please feel free to contact Kasey at [email protected].
Please join us in thanking John for his many contributions to the DOM, and congratulating him on a wonderful promotional opportunity.
