Procedure eConsent Updates [Effective May, 1, 2023] Important Change!!
- Key Points:
- The newly harmonized JHM Informed Consent Policy will go live.
- Witness signature requirement is removed, except when obtaining a consent by telephone.
- Electronic signatures can be obtained by using a mouse, signature pad, or computer generated via MyChart.
- Paper consents are still available for use.
- New Consent templates include:
- Procedural Consent (in-Office) – For procedures performed during a clinic visit.
- Procedural Consent (ED) – For procedures performed in the ED.
- Procedural Consent (OR/Invasive – Panel 1) – For all other surgical/invasive procedures. Formerly labeled New Procedural Consent (Non-ED).
- Procedural Consent (OR/Invasive – Panel 2) – For combo cases when consenting for procedures performed by the secondary service.

Having Trouble with Dragon?
- If your cursor is moving around, your dictation box opens unexpectedly, text is populating the dictation box or wrong field, remember to first “Anchor Speech Focus”:
- Click on Flame icon => Options => General => Click “Anchor Speech Focus…” OR
- Verbally say “Anchor Speech Focus” OR Ctrl + Alt + A
- A lock symbol displays on the microphone indicator
- Dictation Tip: Turn on the microphone with the cursor in the document to be dictated
-Turn your microphone off when navigating the chart

Unsigned/Unpended Orders are Deleted when Tapping-Out Warning!!
- Remember to ‘Sign’ or ‘Save Work’ before Tapping-Out or your orders are deleted.
- This will also occur if you leave your workstation idle for 15 minutes.
- Alternatively, use your mouse to close charts or log out of Epic to prevent loss of work.
- You will receive a prompt asking if you would like to Discard, Save Work, or Go Back.

Chaperone Documentation for Non-GYN-OB Practices [Effective May 1, 2023]
- A new “Chaperone Present” column can be added to the multiprovider schedule which pulls in the Chaperone information documented in the Rooming tab.
- If the name of the Chaperone is not documented, the provider receives a warning when signing the visit.

Targeted Patient Outreach to Help Close Care Gaps!
- The first “Monthly Annual Wellness Campaign” targets patients overdue for their annual wellness visits.
- Displays in the Snapshot, This Visit [sidebar], Health Maintenance, and Longitudinal Plan of Care reports.
- View in the Current Campaign column in the My Panel Metric Drilldown report of the Amb Physician Default Dashboard.

Non-Urgent Medical Advice Disclaimer Displays in MyChart [Effective May 4, 2023]
- Patients will see a disclaimer to call 911 for immediate assistance to prevent inappropriate urgent messaging, especially during evenings and weekends when offices are closed.
