Hematology and Medical Oncology Fellowship Program Leadership Changes

The Department of Oncology is excited to announce that Dr. Kristen Marrone will assume the role of program director for the Hematology and Medical Oncology Fellowship Program on July 1, 2023. Dr. Marrone completed her oncology fellowship at Johns Hopkins and has been the associate program director since 2017, and she is completing her master’s in education at Johns Hopkins.

Together with a search committee, Dr. Marrone has selected four outstanding faculty to serve as associate program directors in Education and Research.

Ana De Jesus-Acosta, MD, Associate Program Director, Education

Dr. De Jesus completed her oncology fellowship here at Johns Hopkins. She is an associate professor and the neuroendocrine tumor multidisciplinary clinic director. Dr. De Jesus will focus on curriculum development in the fundamentals of oncology treatments, caring for patients, and researching ways to improve patient care.

Jonathan Webster, MD, Associate Program Director, Education

Dr. Webster completed his oncology fellowship here at Johns Hopkins and was a chief in his final year. He is an assistant professor specializing in leukemia. He will focus on operationalizing educational initiatives in the hematologic malignancy space and developing outreach initiatives for trainees interested in Hematology & Medical Oncology.

Jackie Zimmerman, MD, PhD, Associate Program Director, Research

Dr. Zimmerman completed her oncology fellowship at Johns Hopkins, during which she was selected as an Assistant Chief of Service for the Osler Residency Program. She is an assistant professor with a laboratory focused on pancreatic cancer research. Dr. Zimmerman will focus on expanding research training within our program, including curricular design, statistical training and more. She will also focus on fellowship and Osler PSP recruitment.

Mark Yarchoan, MD, Associate Program Director, Career Development

Dr. Yarchoan completed his oncology fellowship at Johns Hopkins and was a chief in his final year. He is an associate professor and specializes in gastrointestinal malignancies. Dr. Yarchoan will work with the fellows during their research time on grantsmanship, while expanding the mentoring processes during these years.

Rakhi Naik, MD, Associate Program Director, Hematology Track

Dr. Naik completed her hematology fellowship at Johns Hopkins. She is an associate professor and will continue as associate program director for the hematology track.
