The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, the Physician-Scientist Training Program, the ASPIRE Program and the Professional Development and Career Office are excited to welcome back Career Volt to lead an Advanced K Award Grant Writing Workshop.
Who is this workshop for?
This workshop is designed for postdoctoral research and clinical fellows who are planning to submit or resubmit a K award application in the upcoming October/November 2023 cycle. To attend, you must be eligible for a K award. View a list of applicable K awards and eligibility requirements here.

Who is Career Volt?
Career Volt specializes in providing grant writing and professional development support to early-stage faculty and scientists. Drs. Jessica Lerch and Sheila Cherry, the workshop instructors, are both PhD scientists with extensive expertise in NIH K award applications.
To register for the Advanced K workshop:
- Email Dr. Doug Dluzen (ddluzen1@jhu.edu) and state your interest in attending.
- Submit a Draft Specific Aims page by August 4, 2023, to Dr. Doug Dluzen (ddluzen1@jhu.edu).
- Copy your PI on your submitted aims to acknowledge their support of your submission.
- Everyone participating in the Advanced K workshop must view a series of K Award overview videos that are available on demand. This insures everyone in the advanced course is at the same knowledge level. You can take the short quizzes to demonstrate knowledge instead of watching the videos. Please register for the course with your JHU email using this LINK and create a username and password. Your registration will be approved within one business day after you register.
