Neptune Co-Chairs Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program Scientific Advisory Committee

Dr. Enid Neptune, associate professor in the Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine, has been selected to co-chair the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Tobacco-Related Disease Research Program (TRDRP) of the University of California. This program administers the portion of state retail taxes on tobacco products that are designated for research within California. TRDRP is the major funder of research to assess the health impacts of new and emerging tobacco products, to identify health and behavioral effects of added flavors and nicotine and to end tobacco-related health disparities. TRDRP has continuously supported critical research needed to inform the state’s tobacco control activities and improve the care for Californians with tobacco-related diseases.

The Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) acts in an advisory role to the TRDRP and is comprised of members representing a range of scientific expertise and experience in the field of tobacco-related diseases and tobacco control. As co-chair, Dr. Neptune will preside over the SAC and collaborate with TRDRP staff to elicit valuable and actionable contributions from the committee members.
