Montemayor Named Fellowship Program Director

Dr. Kristina Montemayor has been appointed as the Program Director of Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship. She will succeed Dr. Souvik Chatterjee, whose contributions in this role have greatly advanced the training program.

Dr. Souvik Chatterjee joined faculty in 2019 and was appointed Fellowship Associate Program Director as well as the Director of the Bayview Medical Intensive Care Unit. During his first year on faculty, he received the Fellows Teaching Award. He was subsequently named fellowship program director in 2022 and has greatly enhanced fellowship procedural training and clinical opportunities. We are grateful to Dr. Chatterjee for his continued involvement and support of the fellowship program.

Dr. Kristina Montemayor is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. She worked as a bedside nurse for five years prior to receiving her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch and then completed her internal medicine residency and pulmonary and critical care fellowship training at Johns Hopkins. Since joining faculty in 2020, Dr. Montemayor has established herself as a leader in undergraduate and graduate medical education. At the residency level, she has served as a clinical coach and during her second year of faculty she was appointed Longcope Firm Faculty Leader. This past year, she was appointed Senior Associate Program Director and Associate Program Director for Evaluation and Assessment of the Osler Medical Residency. At the fellowship level, she has served as an Associate Fellowship Program Director for Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine since joining faculty and has led recruitment and educational initiatives the past few years. She has been the recipient of numerous regional and national educator awards and looks forward to training the future leaders in pulmonary and critical care medicine.
