After a national search, we are happy to announce that Dr. Meredith McCormack will become Director of the Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine on February 1.
Dr. McCormack has skillfully led the Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care alongside interim director Dr. Jonathan Orens since 2022. She is a Professor of Medicine, an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with obstructive lung disease including those with asthma and COPD and leads the JHU Breathe Center, funded by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences Collaborative Centers in Children's Environmental Health Research and Translation program. She also directs the Johns Hopkins Asthma Precision Medicine Center of Excellence and serves as medical director of the Pulmonary Function Laboratory. Before becoming associate director, she served as associate program director of the Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship Program and was awarded the DOM’s Frederick L. Brancati Excellence in Mentoring Award in 2018. We are confident her expertise and familiarity with the division will serve her well in her new role.
Thank you to the search committee everyone who participated in the search and to our final candidates who traveled to Hopkins to present their work. We would especially like to thank Dr. Jonathan Orens for his expert leadership as interim director and continued commitment to our Department. Please join us in thanking Dr. Orens and welcoming Dr. McCormack to her expanded leadership role.
