Polycom End of Life in May 2026

In 2021, IT@JH redesigned our video conference services, offering a more modernized and simplified video conference system with a focus on native integration to cloud-based platforms such as Zoom, Teams and WebEx.  As we continue our hardware migration efforts to the Cisco video conferencing platform, our Poly vendor is making changes to their licensing model that will result in a fairly large financial impact to the organization.  With this in mind, we have made the decision to discontinue with our Poly licensing and platform support  as May 31, 2026.   We are making this announcement now to allow our team to continue to provide services and allow all teams to properly budget for replacement systems over the next two years.  You are receiving this message as a customer currently managing a conference room or collaboration space outfitted with Poly video conferencing platform.

What does this mean:

On May 31, 2026, the Poly Video conference services provided by Central IT will be discontinued and all remaining Poly hardware still using the current infrastructure will no longer be able to make and receive video conference calls.

What needs to happen:

All current Poly video platforms will need to be replaced with the new AVC Cisco video platforms.  AVC will be happy to work with customers to obtain high level budgetary estimates to allow for proper funding requests to be submitted.  To begin this process, please send an email to [email protected].  This will create an Incident ticket for the AVC team to reach out to you to begin planning efforts.  If you have any questions, please send an email to the AVC team email address, AVC@jhu.edu.
