The 13th Annual Women in Medicine Honorary Dinner took place on Wednesday, April 30 at the Carriage House of the Evergreen Museum & Library. Sponsored by the DOM Task Force on Women's Academic Careers in Medicine, this event celebrates the accomplishments of our DOM women faculty and provides an opportunity to build relationships with other women and faculty in the DOM.
We'd like to extend our gratitude to our keynote speaker Dr. Hala Sabry, DO, MD, who delivered an inspirational talk entitled, "The Who and the How: Using Identity and Values to Navigate Career Stagnation." Dr. Sabry is an emergency medicine physician and founder of the Physician Moms Group and the 1% Women’s Club. We'd also like to thank Dr. Wendy Chen, Assistant Professor of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, for her talk and video presentation about the importance of inspiring younger generations of women to pursue STEM fields.
Susan M. MacDonald Sponsorship Awards
Finally, we'd like to highlight this year's DOM Susan M. MacDonald Sponsorship Award winners. This award recognizes DOM faculty who have demonstrated a commitment to supporting and advancing women faculty and fellows by acting as a sponsor. A sponsor is a person in a leadership position who actively supports the career advancement of a more junior faculty member or trainee in whom they see career and leadership potential.
Congratulations and thank you to the 2025 awardees:
- Dr. Lisa Christopher-Stine, professor in the Division of Rheumatology
- Dr. Erin Michos, professor in the Division of Cardiology
- Dr. Bimal Ashar, professor and interim director of the Division of General Internal Medicine
We'd like to thank Dr. Eva Tseng, chair of the Task Force on Women's Academic Careers in Medicine, Dr. Christina Mejia, assistant professor in the Division of Nephrology and Charles Harris, senior administrative coordinator, for organizing this lovely event.
