Dr. Tsion Abdi, assistant professor in the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, appointment as the Medical Director for Patient Access Services for Johns Hopkins Medicine.
Since joining the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology faculty in 2016, Dr. Abdi has demonstrated dedication to patient-centered care, research and education. Dr. Abdi's journey in clinical leadership began as a local leader for clinical operations at Knoll North in Columbia, Maryland, where she collaborated with local partners to enhance patient access and care. Her talent as a leader led to her appointment as the Clinical Director of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in 2020. In this role, she has been instrumental in developing and improving GI service lines to deliver innovative, high-quality care across various Johns Hopkins Medicine locations, including the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center, Bayview Medical Center, Zayed Endoscopy, Sibley Memorial Hospital, Green Spring Station, White Marsh and Knoll North. Her responsibilities encompass the management of outpatient clinical and endoscopic practices, three motility labs and three infusion centers spanning from Baltimore to the National Capitol Region.
Since 2023, Dr. Abdi has served as the Medical Director of Ambulatory Services at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. In this capacity, she has been collaborating with OJHP leadership to build an integrated operational system across clinical departments not only on the East Baltimore campus, but also throughout JHM. She participates in the JHH Ambulatory Patient Experience Council, leads the Ambulatory Patient and Family Advisory Council and contributes to safety initiatives, demonstrating her deep belief in service and contributing to our organization.
