Dr. Monica Mukherjee, associate professor in the Division of Cardiology, served as the writing chair for the "American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) Guidelines on Echo Assessment of the Right Heart and Special Considerations in Pulmonary Hypertension." The writing group also included Dr. Paul Hassoun, professor in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine.
The new ASE right heart guidelines mark a pivotal advancement in the echocardiographic assessment of the right heart in pulmonary hypertension, ensuring that clinicians have the most precise and validated parameters to improve screening and early detection in patients with and at risk for pulmonary vascular disease, refine risk stratification and guide prognostication and treatment strategies.
