As the end of fiscal year and summer approach, we are writing to summarize some of the staffing changes in various areas across the Department of Medicine teams.
Director’s Office
We are delighted to welcome Amanda Icenroad as she joins the DOM Chairman’s Office on July 7, in the role of Administrative Manager.
Amanda brings over 20 years of administrative experience supporting senior leadership across prestigious institutions, including JHU and the University of Maryland Baltimore. Most recently, she served as an Administrative Specialist in the Division of Nephrology, where she provided high-level support to the division director, managed complex projects and events, and led communications and website management efforts.
Amanda earned a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Villa Julie College, with a focus in science and English. Her early passion for communication and organization has been a consistent thread throughout her career. Her career reflects a strong commitment to excellence in administrative operations, with a proven track record in calendar and travel coordination, faculty support, credentialing, and program management. Amanda is also known for her ability to streamline processes, enhance communication, and foster collaborative environments. Please join us in giving Amanda a warm welcome to the team!
We would also like to give acknowledgement of our deep gratitude to Madison Greer, Charles Harris, Rebecca Spriggs, Rachel Black, and Angela Sutton for helping to cover this vacancy in the interim period.
Administrative Residency
Please join us in welcoming Umniya Umair as our next DOM Administrative Resident, effective June 30, 2025. Umniya is a Master of Health Administration candidate at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, with a strong foundation in healthcare operations, research, and human resources. She brings valuable experience from her administrative internship at Lincoln Hill Manor, where she led initiatives to digitize records, streamline workflows, and enhance regulatory compliance. Her background also includes research in socio-emotional development and leadership in organizational development. Umniya is passionate about healthcare administration and committed to optimizing efficiency and improving patient outcomes. We are excited to have her join our team.
At the same time, we extend our sincere thanks to Grace Corry for her outstanding contributions over the past year. Grace has been instrumental in supporting the department’s initiatives, and her dedication has been deeply appreciated. We are pleased to share that Grace will continue to collaborate with the department, and we look forward to her continued involvement.
Interim Coverage
We are pleased to announce that Shanshan Huang will be stepping into the role of Director of Operations for the Johns Hopkins Department of Medicine, effective July 11, 2025, following the departure of Megan Hirsch. Shanshan brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of our department’s operational needs. We are confident that his leadership will ensure a smooth transition and continued excellence in our administrative and operational functions.
Please join us in congratulating Shanshan on his new role and in thanking Megan for her dedicated service and many contributions to the department.
Support Changes
After more than 20 years of dedicated service at Hopkins, Jim Clements will retire from his role as Practice Management Analyst with the DOM Billing Team on July 18. Jim has been a cornerstone of our team, and his contributions have left a lasting impact across the department. His deep knowledge, thoughtful approach, and willingness to always lend a hand have earned him the respect and appreciation of so many. While we’re excited for him as he enters this next chapter, we will deeply miss his billing expertise, steady guidance, and the invaluable role he has played throughout his time here. Jim’s responsibilities have been transitioned back to the appropriate teams within each area. If you have any questions about who to contact moving forward, please reach out to Liz Dziwulski for guidance.
Starting FY26, DOM hospital finance is transitioning to new staff for JHH and JHBMC. The finance contacts are Eric Knight and Susan Foor for JHH and Luis Gonzales and Randy Komenski for JHBMC. Liz Dziwulski, Brandan Looney, and Maryann Stewart will continue to handle IEAs and other inter-entity topics from a SOM point of view, so please continue going through them for all things inter-entity. They will provide transition/training support until the hospital teams are able to function independently, and as we decouple we will deploy them into divisions with identified finance support needs. Finally, they will play a stronger role in reporting, analytics, and special projects.
