Doberman to Depart Hopkins

At the end of September 2025, Dr. Danielle Doberman, will leave Hopkins after serving with distinction as the Medical Director of the Section of Palliative Medicine since 2019.
Dr. Doberman has played a pivotal role in developing and leading the Division of General Internal Medicine's Palliative Care program, shaping it into a strong and vibrant service that provides compassionate, expert care for patients and families facing serious illness. Under her leadership, our clinical reach has expanded, fellowship training has strengthened, and the program’s visibility has grown both within Johns Hopkins and on the national stage.
Beyond her accomplishments as a leader, Dr. Doberman has been a dedicated clinician, mentor, and educator. She has trained countless students, residents, and fellows in the art and science of palliative medicine, leaving a lasting mark through the many clinicians she has inspired. She has also been a generous and thoughtful colleague, consistently advocating for patients and families while supporting her team with wisdom and grace.
While we are sad to see her leave, we are deeply grateful for all she has contributed to our patients, the Section of Palliative Medicine, GIM, and the Department of Medicine. We are also proud to share that she will continue her important work as the new Medical Director of BridgingLife Hospice and Palliative Care, a regional leader in hospice and palliative services.
We congratulate Dr. Doberman on her many accomplishments and wish her every success in this next chapter of her career.
