The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is committed to supporting the well-being of our people. Beginning Sept. 30, the school of medicine will offer facilitated small-group support sessions for faculty members. The program, developed by the Office of Faculty and the JHM Office of Well-Being, is designed to support resilience and well-being during times of stress and uncertainty.
The small-group discussions will be facilitated by a Johns Hopkins team of faculty members and others with expertise in supporting well-being. The groups will offer support through:
- Providing a safe space for social support and camaraderie with fellow faculty
- Offering tools for managing stress and uncertainty
- Teaching coping strategies that lead to problem-solving and stress reduction
- Developing a sense of personal agency and empowerment
- Sharing information about Johns Hopkins well-being resources
Each session will focus on a theme (please attend all three sessions in your cohort):
Session 1: Manage the Tendency to Catastrophize
Session 2: Restore Your Sense of Agency
Session 3: Thrive Through What Is in Your Control
Space is limited to two groups of 10 faculty participants each. Additional sessions may be offered in the future. Active participation is expected. For the virtual group, Zoom cameras should be on, and we request no driving during the sessions.
