Cuneo, Harriot, and Kobeissi Receive Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Service Awards

In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s unwavering commitment to civil rights, we invite you to attend the 44th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration on Friday, January 16.

Date: Friday, Jan. 16
Time: Noon to 1:30 p.m.
Location: Chevy Chase Auditorium, East Baltimore campus

This year’s program will feature inspiring remarks from Theodore L. DeWeese, dean of the medical faculty and CEO of Johns Hopkins Medicine, and Kevin W. Sowers, president of the Johns Hopkins Health System and executive vice president of Johns Hopkins Medicine. Keynote speakers Nicole Cooper, chief external affairs and transformation officer at United Way of the National Capital Area, and Melvin Wilson, executive director of Turnaround Tuesday, will explore the theme: Impact: The Power of Communities.

The event will also celebrate the incredible contributions of 11 individuals who will receive the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Award for Community Service for their volunteerism and dedication to others. From the DOM, they are:

  • C. Nicholas "Nick" Cuneo, assistant professor of pediatrics and medicine, Division of Hospital Medicine at JHH
  • Anicca Harriot, postdoctoral fellow, Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology/Department of Biomedical Engineering
  • Lynn Kobeissi, postdoctoral research fellow, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology
