Celebrating 50 Years of the Osler Firm System

On May 1, the Osler Medical Residency welcomed back 275 alumni to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Firm System. There were activities throughout the day, but the capstone experience was the Firms at 50 Celebration Symposium, which included talks by the first ACSs, former DOM chairs and program directors, hospital and SOM leaders, and illustrious alumni. Alumni then attended the Osler Residency’s biennial alumni dinner, which featured keynote speaker Suzanne Koven, and the Latchkey Award Reception. The Latchkey awards are modeled after the original key to Osler’s personal library, which he gave to certain senior residents. These awards are presented to people who have exemplified a commitment to Osler’s ideals and who have made an impact on the field of medicine. They are the highest honor the Osler program can bestow. This year’s recipients were David Agus, Redonda Miller, and Suzanne Koven.
