Eschenbach Named Division Administrator

Eduardo (Alex) Eschenbach was named the administrator for the Division of Allergy and Immunology earlier this month. In this role, he will support the staff and faculty of the division with the goal of establishing multiple centers of excellence and publishing world-recognized, groundbreaking research.

Alex earned a MBA in healthcare administration, data analytics and marketing from the Johns Hopkins Carey Business School. Previously, he studied at the University of Texas-Austin where he obtained a bachelor's degree in microbiology and immunology. Before deciding to pursue his MBA, he worked as a software training specialist for the electronic medical record (EMR) company eClinicalWorks, where he helped medical practices by evaluating and establishing medical office workflows and trained providers in EMR software. In 2013, Alex became a science and math teacher, and subsequently principal, of a small, international high school in a small town in the highlands of Guatemala called Panajachel for grades 7-12. Alex remains on the Board of Directors of the high school as well as on the board of a non-profit foundation that aims to improve the education of Guatemalan high school students.
