Inpatient & Ambulatory: Pre-Procedure COVID-19 Orders
- When “Pre-Procedure” is selected as the reason for testing a patient without COVID symptoms, a field appears for indicating the “Date of scheduled procedure”
- If one of the following statements is true, asymptomatic pre-procedure COVID orders are automatically set to a priority of urgent, helping to ensure the specimen is resulted in time for the procedure:
- The patient has the test collected within 36 hours of the procedure date documented in the order
- The order is placed within 72 hours of the procedure date documented in the order
- If the date field is left blank in the order, the pop-up alert shown below will appear, reminding the user to enter the procedure date.
- Ordering providers should click “Cancel” to go back to enter the date in the order, or “Accept” to proceed with signing the order without a date.
***The Date of scheduled procedure is not a required field, however this process will help to ensure the specimen is resulted in time for the procedure***

- The “COVID-19: Resolved” flag will remain on patient charts for 90 days after a positive COVID-19 test, to align with HEIC guidelines available at COVID-19 Isolation Precaution Discontinuation and Repeat Testing
