This week, providers from the Division of Gastroenterology who were redeployed to work for the Johns Hopkins COVID Call Center are wrapping up their duties. For four months, the group learned and adapted to constantly-changing policies and expanded roles. Starting in May, the GI group was the sole source of providers for the center, which allowed it to expand its responsibilities and create a consistent schedule. They covered 22 weekends, worked 1,260 hours and placed 6,100 orders for COVID-19 tests. In addition, they answered countless questions from patients and colleagues and helped improve processes to better serve employees and students.
