Drs. Lolita Nidadavolu, fellow in the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology, and Reyhan Westbrook, instructor in the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology, have each received a Junior Faculty Award sponsored by the Glenn Foundation for Medical Research and the American Federation for Aging Research (AFAR). This $100,000 grant is awarded to investigators studying biology of aging topics that have the potential to impact the health and well-being of older adults.
Dr. Nidadavolu will study the role of IL-6 in promoting skeletal muscle and mitochondrial dysfunction in frailty. Dr. Westbrook will study the effects of kynurenine pathway manipulation on metabolism and healthspan.
