Dr. David Roth, professor in the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology, received the M. Powell Lawton Award at the Gerontological Society of America Meeting in November 2021. This prestigious award is given for distinguished contributions in applied gerontological research.
Dr. Roth bridges methodological rigor with expertise in content and theory in highly interdisciplinary applied interventional research. Dr. Roth was recognized for being an incredibly productive scholar, academic leader and effective mentor who has had a major impact on the field of applied gerontology through his work on diverse topics including the physical health effects of family caregiving, racial/ethnic differences in caregiving, caregiver intervention research, intervention studies on nutrition, driving and mobility. Cumulatively, the impact of his work on improving the quality of life of older adults and their family caregivers has reached large numbers of older adults.
