Earlier this year, the Diabetes Prevention and Education Program (DPEP) secured a large, five-year grant in partnership with the University of Maryland Medical Center, from the HSCRC to dramatically expand participation in the evidenced-based Diabetes Prevention Program and Diabetes Self-Management Training in Baltimore and portions of Howard and Montgomery counties. As part of this effort, Hopkins faculty and staff attended the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists conference held in Baltimore in August. A diverse group of clinicians and scholars from Hopkins attended and presented at the conference, sharing information about research, original care initiatives and community outreach efforts to meet the multifaceted care needs of patients with and at risk for diabetes.
