Shelley Cooke has joined the Department of Medicine as Executive Director of Development.
Shelley joins Hopkins from the Children’s National Hospital Foundation in Washington, D.C. where she served as associate vice president of major and principal gifts. As an integral member of the executive leadership team overseeing the hospital’s programmatic, capital and research funding, she led a team of 8, raising $65-$100M annually. In 2023, she reformulated gift officer performance metrics to track efforts, helping her team surpass revenue goals by 47 percent while improving motivation, retention and collaboration with faculty and fundraising colleagues. In addition, she created philanthropy workshops for physicians to strengthen fundraising skills and better understand faculty roles in supporting philanthropic initiatives. Prior to her role as associate vice president, Shelley helped grow the development programs of the Center for Heart, Lung and Kidney Diseases, the Center for Neurosciences and Behavioral Medicine and the Surgery Center as senior director of development.
Prior to Children’s National Hospital Foundation, Shelley served as director of development for the Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington as well as additional development roles at Alexandria Country Day School, Georgetown University Medical Center and Johns Hopkins University. She is a Certified Fund Raising Executive with a bachelor’s degree in music from the Manhattan School of Music.
Shelley began her role on January 8 following Kimberly Constantine’s departure in July.
