Drs. Nancy Schoenborn and Lolita Nidadavolu of the Division of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology received awards from the American Geriatrics Society at their 2025 Annual Scientific Meeting, held May 8-10.
Dr. Schoenborn received the Thomas and Catherine Yoshikawa Outstanding Scientific Achievement in Clinical Investigation Award. An associate professor and multiple award winner, Dr. Schoenborn’s work is known nationally for its focus on personalized care for medically complex older adults that takes into account their health status and their preferences for care. Her research prioritizes communication between clinician and patient to lead to better care for all older adults. At this year’s meeting, her lecture entitled “Less Is More, or Better Safe Than Sorry – How to Individualize Preventive Care in Medically Complex Older Adults” presents some of this research.
Dr. Nidadavolu’s award, the Health in Aging Foundation New Investigator Award, is given for original research into aging. An assistant professor of medicine and memory disorder specialist at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine since 2021, her work examines the contributions of age-related changes to the immune system that affect physical and cognitive decline. Her research focuses on novel circulating biomarkers as predictors of that decline or response to interventions that promote resilience in vulnerable older adults
